Hey! It's been a while, I know. Started work yesterday @ Century Milpitas. My God, it was busy! However, today was good. Just like a somewhat busy day at the dome! I saw Jeff and Mark today at work. They wanted to see Robert, but he was out and about. They, along with Matt worked there last weekend, when I wasn't there. No wonder Robert wanted me to work last weekend. I shold of worked on Saturday or something. Oh well. The people in Milpitas are great. The other 2 box people I met are cool. One of them said that I have a radio voice when I deal with customers. Funny, Ashiko said the same thing when I was working at the dome. Still miss the ones I worked with there.
Had a customer try to get me into trouble today. So here's how it went. I had one customer ask for 2 student tickets. I asked for ID and he only showed 1. I told him I can only offer the discount per ID shown, so I charged him 1 student and 1 general. So here comes the next customer. Asks for 1 student and 2 generals. Ask for the ID. Says he doesn't have it. Then he goes off and says that I gave the student discount to the previous customer w/o ID. I told him what I did, but refused to hear me out. So he asks to speak to a manager. I told the assistant manager what I did, he said it was alright. The customer demands to see another manager. So it goes all the way up to Robert. Of course, the managers believed me, not the 35-year old SJSU tshirt wearing freak. My God the nerve of some people. Just the fact that this guy was a college student in his 30s, thinking he was better than those who were younger than him... WTF?
Before that, I had this fat guy come in after weekend matinee and curse me out because I was robbing him. Then he walks away saying, "I'm going to fucking sue!" Sue for what moron? Company policy? And my co-workers from the dome know how much I do follow policy.... My last night there, I turned away 30-40 teenagers from seeing American Pie 2. Yeah I rock!
On other news.... It's so boring in the dorms this year. NOTHING HAPPENS HERE ANYMORE! Seriously, what happened? Nobody hangs out here and people don't associate with their floormates. It's really sad.
So there's the brief for now.
How can I explain today? It all started this morning at 7:45 when my cell rang. It was Rachel calling me from Australia. I was a little dazed and confused as to why she was calling me so early in the morning. Something major had to be up. And that was the case... Two commercial jets crashing the World Trade Center towers and another into the Pentagon. Rachel tried calling Brian, but of course he was refusing to answer the phone. So she asked me to wake him up. Wearing a pathetic v-neck undershirt and my green shorts, I take the elevator from 5th to 11th. I woke him up and told him what was up.
We went down to 10th to watch the news in the lounge.
After watching for a few hours, I went back to my room and slept a bit. Then Brian calls me on my cell telling me that CSU ordered campuses to cancel classes for the day. Heh, I only had one class today and it was at 1:30. However, I also found out that they cancelled the Weezer concert on campus in the Event Center. I was actually planning on seeing them. It's being rescheduled, just hope it's not like the Creed post-ponement. (No, I didn't want to see them, just making a point)
Speaking of Weezer, my roommate had no clue as to who they were and said that Weezer was a stupid band name... This coming from a guy expecting Alliyah's death was supposed to make the top story on the SF news stations. I'm not even going to go further on that tangent.
According to KRON, Stanford has cancelled the SJSU/Stanford game this Saturday, but I have not READ any confirmation on that. According to the NCAA, it was up to the individual conferences and schools to decide whether or not to cancel their games. We should find out in the morning.
I'll try to write more later today.
Things around here are a little quiet today... for a Friday, of course. Found out some disturbing news Wednesday night from Colleen and Cari. I'm not going into too much detail, but basically a decision was made by one of our friends and we're shocked and a little dissapointed about it. However, this is a friend of ours and this is definitely not going to change that.
I'm working only two days this week.... Saturday day and Sunday night. Oh well....
The SJSU/Stanford game was postponed till 12/1. I recieved emails from the President and VP of Student Affairs about their responses and what the campus is doing in lieu of this week's events. You can read those on the website under Emails.
The DLS/Mater Dei game is next Saturday @ UOP in Stockton. I'm trying to get a group together to go to the game. I'll most likely be working during the day then drive straight up to Stockton after work.
