It's Thursday and I my first final is next Friday!!! Damn, where did the semester go? I have my Health/Science Final on Friday, my Accounting and Statistics final on Monday and my Econ Final on Tuesday.
As for work, I close tomorrow, open Saturday, and close Sunday. After that, I'm on leave till I start working at the dome in Pleasant Hill... yes the dome, not the new 16. I decided to be a slacker and work there and besides, I can't stand the upper management over there, even though I only spent one day there.
Oh yeah, I have the night off tonight... the first Thursday night I have off in the longest time. Have no major plans though.
Yet another semester has passed! One good thing about that is that I am able to sleep in peace once more. No longer do I have to try to fall asleep when there is music of a certain kind, with repetition of a certain derogatory word (which I still can't understand why they must use that word when it is taboo for anyone else outside of their "group" can't use it). I dunno...
Still on the topic of my roommate (in case you haven't clicked in yet) we were in a somewhat serious conversation, which we had pretty much during the last hour we were allowed in the dorms. He was basically asking what would happen if he failed his remedial math course the second time around. Answer: Disqualification. One part of me was like, "Oh, please be the case!" and the other was good enough not to let the other feeling show and answer politely. :) He's certain he didn't pass.
Well after I left the dorms, Brian and I tried to gather a group together to have dinner downtown at Original Joe's, but of course due to a whole bunch of things, a group didn't form, so it was just Brian and myself.
Thursday, Rachel flew back home from Australia. I was planning on going over to meet her at the airport, but Brian never called me. I was going to take BART and have him pick me up. He prob overslept, which is excusable because of what happened to him the previous day.
Yesterday, my sister and I went to SF to have dinner and do some shopping. My mom introduced us to her entire floor and then some. Not realizing that SFC closed at 9, we didn't finish shopping. I didn't get to check out A&F and J.Crew. We might take BART over there today.
The Post-Xmas Update:
Well, it wasn't too eventful... got some clothes and cash.
There ya go!
As for other things that are happening...
Getting the house ready for DSL. I've debated what would be the cheapest yet best way to network the 4 computers in the house. I've decided to go the Home Phonline Network (HPNA 2.0) way. It uses existing phone wiring running at 10Mbps. It says it can coincide with voice and ADSL all on the same line. However, I want to max out the connections with little conflict, so I'm using the second pair of the phone wiring as the network connection. The second pair is currently the second line, which will be disconnected once DSL is up and running. A good thing about HPNA is that it doesn't have to use a "live" phone line to connect the network. Just as long as the network is all on the same wiring.
The router I'm getting is from 2Wire, which evidently won Best of Show at CES. It's the HomePortal 100. From all the research and and reviews I've been reading, this router has faster speeds than Linksys and Netgear. Plus the router has 3 ways of connecting: HPNA, Ethernet, and USB. Their other model even includes wireless 802.11. I would of purchased that model, but alas, no tengo mucho dinero. (Yeah using my Honors Spanish 2 skills there!) ...sorry, it's really late and I can't sleep. Yes, this is being posted at 5:30 in the morning. Anyways...
As for the HPNA NICs, I got 2 made from Diamond for $19 total. Although Diamond no longer makes them, they still support them up to Win2k. These will be used on the Pentium I systems. As for my box, I got a Netgear NIC from amazon.com for $30. Now I all I have to do is wait for my installation date and get the router from CompUSA for $199. I'll also have to wait till my billing cycle ends on my credit card so I won't have to pay it until March.
I should get to bed soon. There are things I actually have to do during the day. :-)
