HELLO 2002 AND THE LONG AWAITED NBC3!

I don't know why I put in the NBC3 thing... maybe it's been hyped so much the past couple of years. But enough about that.

New Year's was alright. Had a big family gathering at my uncle's house. It was a NYE/NYD/Uncle's Birthday party (he's a NY's baby).

During the day, we went to Concord for lunch at my cousin's.

Then we went back home.

So yeah, I guess you can call my NY's pretty eventful .

I worked at the dome on NYE... it was expected that we would get a lot of business, but alas, I jinxed it. But we went over the projected attendance, so it's all good :) While I was there, I saw Andrew. Haven't seen him since Thanksgiving when he had that intense conversation with his top boss. Some of the guys at work wanted to get a stripper for New Year's.... I was thinking in the back of my head that they would have a hard time finding one the last minute. Not exacly sure what they ended up doing.

I've been home for approximately 2 weeks now and I haven't been out with friends.... what the hell's wrong with me? It doesn't help when Chris is out of town with his family, Jon's up in Davis, and Cari's in Maui. I would call my SJSU friends, but I'm not up for making a trip down there right now. Besides, it's so freaking hard to plan things with them sometimes. Oh well... I will continue to live my boring ass life.

I'm starting something new as you saw at the top of this post... I'm posting what MP3's I'm listening to as I blog. I'll do this if I'm actually listening to MP3s as I blog.

So that's pretty much it for now!

So I find out tonight that Chris wasn't out of town! You see, (especially if you know him) Chris was sleep deprived during the quarter so he decided to take his entire break catching up. And I thought working and going to school full time was bad! He finally made his presence on AIM tonight after his long, unknown hiatus. Then there was Jon who apparently also needed some sleep tonight as well. At least this was a temporary thing for him.

As for other things... got DSL up and running early! The kit came in on Thursday. I heard the UPS truck Idling outside my window, so I run downstairs and tried to get the package away from my brother, who wanted to keep it away from me. I originally thought it was the HPNA NICs I ordered, but it was the kit. I immediately opened the box, took the plastic off everything and set the thing up.

I had a minor issue trying to use the install disk SBC gave me. Aware of the fact that I should only install Disk 1 and not Disk 2 under XP, I tried just that. However, the installer would not detect my NIC. So I went and clicked shutdown. Then the damn Compaq would not get pass the red Compaq logo screen. I don't know what that installer did, but I had to reset the bios to get it back.

After totally giving up on the installer, I just manually set up the system and the XP PPoE. After that, it ran smoothly. Figured out how to admin the account under www.sbcglobal.net. So far, I have not had any problems with the connection.

To ensure that there are no internal wiring issues, I used my existing wire from the SNI box outside that strands in the garage into the family room. (The kitchen had the only downstairs phone jack and I didn't want to install a new line from the attic.

As for the current second line, I went ahead and called PacBell to disconnect it. It's scheduled for tomorrow. I'm going to use HPNA on the second line to avoid any potential conflicts with the DSL line. Although they are designed to work together, I read somewhere that if a computer on the HPNA network logs on to the network, the DSL connection will drop and renegotiate. The good thing about HPNA is that it doesn't require the line to be "live". Basically each networked room will have a triplex adapter on the phone jack... just as we did to separate the 2 phone lines. L1 =DSL, L2 = Network, L1+L2 = Voice

The HPNA NICs I ordered are still with UPS. Two of them have been in Richmond since Tuesday night... don't know why they're just there, it was just rescanned tonight. Another one is somewhere between Richmond and Cach, IL, as the last scan was done on Wednesday. And I was wondering why the estimated delivery date was the 7th....

Oh well, I still don't have the router. I’m waiting till Monday so I can charge it with a new billing cycle. I'll get it after work @ CompUSA. Oh yeah, working on/off at the dome. Oh wait! I already posted that up, huh?

So just realizing that this is way too much information you guys should know.... I'll end it here :-)

A SAD LATE NIGHT FOR TEENIE-BOPPERS

Those young'ums who stayed up on a school night to see Carson Daly's new show on NBC only saw a rerun of SCTV. It was funny to read the posts from these damn teenagers thinking that SCTV was actually part of Carson's show... heh heh, what uncultured retards! The reason why the show never surfaced last night was because of a contract dispute between Carson and NBC.

OK, enough about that.
