Start MP3: Prince - Kiss (Have the 80s Playlist going)
This past week has been a real long one! (And so will be this blog!)
Let's start with last Saturday, when we went to see Justin Arkoosh at his sister's HS grad party. Later on that evening, Randall, Joe, Justin, Johnny, and I went to the Metreon to see Star Wars in DLP. Let me tell you, DLP is awesome! There were times it went out of sync but despite the 1/2 - 3/4 second delays, it was cool.
Sunday, we went to SF for mom's birthday and saw Les Miz. We had box seats on audience right, but had an obstructed view of stage left. Despite this, it was still a good show. Afterwards we headed over to Todai at Sunvalley for dinner.
Tuesday, started off with me sitting in the jury services room in Martinez for most of the day. I met a guy from Walnut Creek/DVC who was about my age who was interested in going to SJSU. At least I had someone to keep my company. Well, it wasn't until 2:30 till most of us remaining were called into a court room. After some introductions and hearings on juror deferments, the judge called the first 18 to be questioned. I was #4! After the 18 were questioned, the judge recessed until 9 AM. After leaving court, I went straight down to SJ for 80s night! Didn't stay down there though, so I arrived back at home at 3:10.
Wednesday, went back to court with 2 1/2 hours of sleep and a raspy voice! In the courtroom, after the first round of cuts, one prospective juror gave great answers: "I believe firearms should be in the possession in only law enforcement" and "I believe in the opposite, guilty until proven innocent." Cal student, BTW. The juror next to me was the Treasurer of the UC Regents and he said, "Typical Berkeley student". Both of us chuckled. Well, that student obviously got dismissed. During the last round of questioning, the guy I met was brought up, only to become the last cut. And there it was, the selected jury, with me in it! I was the only juror who: a) Was the only juror under the age of 30, b) Was the only juror who lived in West County, and c) Was the only juror who was non-Caucasian. After a 20 minute recess that turned into a 45, we started testimony. This day was Christina's 21st and Rachel's 23rd birthday!
Thursday, court in session once more... a 20 minute break turned into an hour. Case was finally submitted to the jury at 4:20, not enough time to start deliberating.
Friday, start at 8:30, render verdict around 4:00. After being dismissed, I left court and head down to SJ where I ended up doing nothing major.
Saturday, Karina's graduation at UCSC. Very interesting.... they all went and sang "Lean on Me"
OK, you probably want to know about the case... Count 1 was a misdemeanant in possession of a firearm (a felony) and Count 2 was brandishing a firearm (misdemeanor). Basically the defendant sped into an Antioch street, was yelled by neighbors to slow down, defendant got out of the car (a yellow convertible mustang) had a confrontation with one of the neighbors, eventually pointed a gun at the neighbor. There was no gun found, so all evidence was based on testimony. If you want more details, talk to me as I don't really want to publish too much, nor actually want to write details out for the spite of blogging. We did find the defendant guilty of both counts.
So there you have it!
Oh, I almost forgot! Thursday, the spitball case was going to be decided in Martinez. During our lunch break, I noticed all of the news crews outside the courthouses. So I walked across a few live shots! You can watch me on NBC3's Feedroom. (Sorry, clip is now offline) I'm the first guy to walk in the background! If you have broadband and you see Allen Denton and Terilyn Joe on an ad banner on the bottom of the player, click "Change Speed" to see the broadband clip.
Now that's it!
End MP3: Human League - Don't You Want Me
That's right, no more redirects! Namezero finally gave its Plus users Netsol login information so we can change the name servers for our domains! So I bought some cheap server space and now fiddling around with it. Most DNS servers should reflect the change already. Basically, if you're reading this blog, then you're reading it off my new server.
One of the things I did was install Ikonboard. Yeah, that so-called Message Board I placed was kinda pathetic. That's what you get for free! I already changed the flash links, but now I realized that I haven't updated the legacy indexleft file, so if you use the non-flash navigation bar, you'll have to wait.
Note on subdomians... I can't easily set them up as I did with Namezero. I have to send in a support ticket to have them established. Until then, you'll need to access the blog from www.rapp81.com/blog instead of blog.rapp81.com.
