HALLOWEEN IN CHICO

Alright, I have to start off by asking how the hell can SJSU be tied with Chico in being the party school like the one in "Animal House"? (Refer to this video clip) Chico, undoubtely should be the one to only claim this fame! Rachel, Kristy, and I went up to Chico for Halloween and caught up with Nick, Rachel's brother. From the instant we drove into town, I was in utter shock that everything I have heard about Chico was absolutely true!

Now as for what happened, I'll give you a sweet, short version. We first partied at Nick's ex-girlfriend's house. Then we walked the streets of Downtown Chico, where Chico police on car, foot, motorcycle, and horseback tried to keep everyone on the sidewalk. After that, we go back to the house, where someone there threw a bottle at the police, so they come charging in the house. After that, Nick brings us to another party, where I had a brief interaction with a cute girl. She noticed my SJSU lanyard and said that she was from Cupertino but went to school in San Diego. However, she went into the bathroom with a group of girls, and we had to leave... Alas, what my luck brings me. Anyways, then we hit the streets some more and Nick separates from us. Then, we walk out for about 2 miles to another party, where apparently it was a country ho-down! Yikes! Sometime during the night, Rachel and Kristy end up meeting guys for themselves and I'm the one who ends up solo. After getting utterly cold outside, we decided to leave the party. We can't figure out exactly how to get back to Nick's, so the girls went with the two guys who happened to live in the same house. I had no choice but to tag along. After yet another 2 mile walk in the freezing cold, we go inside the house, still cold, and sit on the couch. The next thing I remember doing was falling asleep and waking up in the dark alone in the living room. I was a bit frantic at that point, but I saw Rachel's sandals nearby so I figured everything was cool and tried to fall back asleep.

So there's that story in a nutshell.

HMMM..........

First off, I forgot to say that I was Prisoner #24601 for Halloween. If you don't get that reference (other than The Simpson's) you'll have to ask another theatre geek! BTW, photos are in the SJSU > 2002-2003 > Halloween 2002 - Chico folder. Quick Link

Thanks Chris for that commenting spoof off those MasterCard commercials... :)

Another Geek thing to mention: I was looking through my server log and found that someone in Europe, who was searching for an MP3, used an Amiga to surf into my site! Of all the non-PCs I wanted to ever own, the Amiga was it. Don't even get me started on how I wanted to get an Amiga with my own copy of the Prevue Guide and Sneak Prevue software just to see how it worked!

Alright, it's time for Rex to go to bed now. Not because of his total geek admittance, but because he has to wake up at 6:30 in order to meet his class group at Clark Library by 8.

OH THE JOYS OF CALLER ID!

I was checking out an old TSS story about hacking a Tivo so you can add Caller ID functionality to them. (Side note: all the newer Dish Network recievers, including the PVR unit already has this feature in their software... why doesn't Tivo and AT&T Digital Cable DCT's have this?) I followed the link to the Caller ID programmer's website, where he also had a Caller ID software for Windows... and it's free! It works with your modem and shows the CID info right above the clock. Also, you can brodcast the CID info to other computers on the network, if they're running the program's remote client. Check it out!

RANDOM HAPPENINGS

Wednesday: Chris Hale had a film project, titled "80s Night", which essentially recreated the 80s Night at the Cactus Club. He needed a lot of extras so I along with most of the group helped him out. At first, there weren't that many who showed up, so we all banded together and started calling random people on our cell phones. The entire movie was to be shot in one take and we ended up doing several takes... granted the entire moive was about 8 minutes or so.

Saturday: Hung out at the dome for a bit. Rosemary was telling me that she wanted Scott to come back and work at the dome. I think he's going to stay with Lithia simply because of the pay. Then there was the "I can't stand Rob" thing with Rosemary. Now she knows what I've delt with :)

Other than those two days, nothing much has been happening...
