I was looking at the timetables for the VTA routes as I'm going to be on campus earlier than usual tomorrow and realized that they're cutting service in 2 weeks! One route that's cut dramatically is the 300, which I rely on daily. Yeah, I could take the 22, but it takes 10 minutes longer, plus since the elimination of midday service on the 300, those accordian busses will be filled to capacity with very interesting people. VTA is also considering a fee increase in a few months... this could affect SJSU students as we pay a fee for VTA services every semester.
For the past several weeks, I've been debating whether or not I should stay in the Bay Area. My life's been dull, school's not working out, and I think I need some change. It's not like all of my friends here are boring me out... in fact, you guys have made my life here actually liveable. However, I'm due for some sceneic change.
Last night, I was hanging out and met someone who was visiting from Seattle. He said that people up there are so much better, not as stuck up and living life in the fast track as the people are in the Bay Area. So I have decided that after this semester commences, I will move up to Seattle.
I've been thinking about Seattle ever since my freshman year in high school, when I went up with the band. Yeah, it was a bad band trip... *goes into retrospect*. But I loved the city ever since!
I will truely miss all of you in the Bay Area... especially the ones I've known since High School and the friends I've met in San Jose. Just remember that I'm always a click away :)
Oh yeah, btw... APRIL FOOLS!!!!.
President Caret has served as SJSU president since January 1995. Prior to his appointment at SJSU, Caret served as provost and executive vice president at Towson. According to Caret, Towson officials along with Caret's former colleagues continually contacted him, trying to persuade him to take the position. Towson officials continually told Caret that they were unable to find a suitable replacement and that Caret was the only one who could fully meet their needs. In regards to this surprising move, Caret said that, ``They asked that I reconsider... I said `no' many times but, as the dialogue has unfolded, I feel I must now say `yes.' ''
For the past 8 years, Caret has served the SJSU community. During his tenure, he has made many breakthroughs, such as making the new joint City/University Library and Campus Village projects a reality and vigerously making SJSU less known as a "commuter school" by striving for the ultimate campus life, replicating ones like the other major Universities in the Bay Area.
There is no immediate word from SJSU as to who will replace Caret on an interim basis or any plan of action in regards to finding Caret's replacement.
